Prestonwood Baptist Church
Plano, Texas

Since its founding in 1979, Prestonwood Baptist Church has grown until it is one of the largest churches in the United States -- attracting people from 50 miles away. This growth necessitated expansion into the retail center across the street from its original main building. Then, when their membership grew to 15,000, they relocated to a 138-acre site in the communities of West Plano and Carrollton, Texas. The new site development included a church and worship center totaling 350,000 gross square feet, K-12 school, and a 180-unit retirement center.

DT&A performed a traffic impact analysis for the new church campus site to address the church's immediate needs and incorporate its vision for the future. The firm developed an understanding of the vision, goals, and overall objectives of the church and addressed the attendant transportation issues. An undertaking of this magnitude required a trip generation analysis, trip distribution and lane assignment assessment, a traffic volume summary, and level-of-service analysis for the five intersections and interchanges surrounding the site to determine both current and future development needs. Tremendous growth is expected during the next 20 years and DT&A is committed to providing well-designed, progressive transportation, access, and parking plans for the 21st Century and beyond.
